CTBA is proud to invite every community member to participate in year round events. Yes, we do an 'open invite' to all and encourage maximum participation.

Our year starts with Saraswati Puja in January or February, where we dedicate our entire evening watching our kids take center stage. At Saraswati Puja , our kids are stars and we all love to watch them do anchoring, singing, dancing, playing an instrument or acting in a skit, either solo or in a group.

Generally speaking nominations for participation in Saraswati Puja cultural programs are sent around first week of November of the previous year. Cultural committee then forms a team of volunteers who train our kids for the grand show on the night of Saraswati Puja. This is unique experience for the kids, as they get an opportunity to participate in program of their choice. Its also a great time for the kids to enjoy weekly evenings of practice with their friends. Food is part of all our gathering and kids absolutely loves being treated every week. Once a kid participates, he or she looks forward to next year's event and we as parents feel proud of seeing them imbibing our Bengali culture with enthusiasm. Way to go kids!

Our next cultural evening is to celebrate Tagore's birth, which happens on 'Poila Boisakh' or in May. This program is open for Kids and adults with theme for the event is to practice Tagore's literary works. Nominations for participation is sent out around early March.

The biggest event of the year is Durga Puja. As grand as it can get, participants numbers are for past few years were in near 100. Cultural program consists of dance, songs, instrumentals and drama and visit of an external artist from India. CTBA members do get the opportunity to direct their own shows including choreographed dances, well rehearsed songs, instrumental jugal-bandi and Austin's sought after 'Natok' or play acted by our very community friends. Two days of live shows and multiple weeks of rehearsals prior to the event. Needless to say, time flies with friends, families and practice sessions. This is the opportunity for new members to come forward and make friends, show case new talent and overall enjoy being part of this vibrant community.
